The heart of the Christian gospel—the essence of the Christian message—is Christ’s life laid down for us. That is what the Christian gospel concentrates on and focuses on. And the heart of the Christian life—what it means to live as a Christian—focuses on this: our lives laid down for Him. As Rev. Alexander succinctly says, “The Christian gospel is essentially grace—His life laid down for us. The Christian life is essentially gratitude—my life laid down for Him.” In this booklet, Eric Alexander encourages Christians not to settle for a distorted image of the Christian life; instead, he urges believers to so ponder the riches of God’s infinite grace that they are found with an altar in their hearts where everything is gladly, joyfully laid before Him.
