Taking a Vacation from God?

Since the command not to forsake the assembly (Heb. 10:24-25) extends far beyond geographical boundaries, one of the things that I have longed to see in our highly transitional congregation is a commitment to find a solidly biblical church in which to worship while on vacation. I assume that I am not alone in this desire.

The local church that I have been called to pastor consists largely of young military families with small children and recent empty-nesters/early retirees. This dynamic makes for both constant turnover as well as high travel frequency during the year. At times, our church feels a little less like a local church and a little more like a hostel.

A New Psalms Album

Wendell Kimbrough has produced a fine album of contemporary Psalm settings.

A few weeks ago I received a small package from a man announcing himself as the father of one Wendell Kimbrough, and containing his son's new cd of Psalms.   I always wince at such arrivals on the grounds that I fear I am going to have to come perilously close to breaking the Ninth Commandment when I write back expressing my thanks and appreciation.

New Translation of Gn. 3:16

I use the ESV and so does my church.  I enjoy it as a translation, though sometimes prefer the TNIV for narrative sections.  I am no biblical linguist, so that is a purely aesthetic judgment based upon readability.

Why has this Trinitarian issue generated such passion?  Given the fact that the EFS/ERAS/anti-eternal generation view has been shown to be wrong, why has there been no ‘We’re sorry we misled the church for so long.  We recant our errors.

Todd is sensitive.  I am not.
